"Since its inaugural edition in 2015, Oasis Festival has placed great importance on providing a setting just as enticing as the music. In line with this, the Into the Wild series – launched in 2022 – departed from the festival’s roots in Marrakech to showcase some of the more unchartered territories Morocco has to offer. Following on from last year’s venture into the central lagoon of Dahkla, 2023’s location was the most momentous yet: the esteemed Atlas Studios in Ouarzazate. A setting which boasts blockbuster films and series such as Game Of Thrones and Gladiator amongst its vast portfolio of credits."
2023 saw us expand the sound of Oasis beyond just cutting edge house and techno to encompass Moroccan hip hop, bass music, dubstep, UKG, live electronica and more.
Atlas Studios is a unique venue. The festival was tucked in sprawling maze of film sets, inviting you to get lost and find one of our three stages and our unique pop ups, which included the celebrated Marrakech cocktail haunt Barometre, a champagne bar, and the Moroccan square.
The Mbari House is Oasis’ dynamic cultural center, which was curated this year by lauded Moroccan artist and tastemaker Hassan Hajjaj, multi-hyphenate duo Art Comes First, and the Smithsonian’s Janine Gaëlle Dieudji. The space hosted panels, screenings, a pop-up store and impromptu dance parties through the weekend.
This year’s program, curated and led by Kenza Ito Mekouar, featured yoga, breathwork and meditation sessions with live music, hosted in the set where Martin Scorsese’s Kundun was filmed.
Morocco is one of the world’s best food destinations, and our food court offered locally-inspired burgers and wraps, sushi and poke bowls as well as delicious fresh pressed juices.
